Our Thesis

Australia is undergoing the most significant restructuring of its energy and resources systems in a generation. Over 12 GW of National Electricity Market coal and gas capacity is scheduled to retire by 2035, while demand under AEMO's 2026 step change scenario is forecast to grow by approximately 28% over the same period. The transition requires dispatchable replacement capacity, transmission upgrades, new grid services, and the upstream resources to deliver them — including the minerals required to enable the electrification of our economy. The intersection between energy and minerals is getting closer every day, while

hard to abate sectors, such as steel, cement, and heavy transport must adapt and find solutions to reduce carbon emissions.

Capital is available for this transition, but it is selective. It flows to teams that combine technical credibility with disciplined execution and institutional-grade governance. GDI was founded to be one of those teams.

What we do

GDI undertakes two activities, both under the AFSL of NBFI Secured Investments and offered only to wholesale, sophisticated and professional investors:

  • Manage wholesale unit trusts focused on decarbonisation infrastructure. GDI is the trustee and investment manager of the GDI Energy Infrastructure Fund. We are responsible for origination, development and disposal of the underlying portfolio of dispatchable energy assets.
  • Arrange capital raises for third-party project owners. Where a project sits outside our managed funds but aligns with our decarbonisation focus, we act as Corporate Authorised Representative to arrange wholesale capital for the project owner. We are currently doing this for the Paragon Bore Iron Ore & IOCG Project, held by Resource Holdings Pty Ltd.

Our team includes experienced professionals with deep expertise across the energy and minerals sectors in commerical, operational and regulatory functions.
